Kalabera Kickboxing

Kalabera Kickboxing is a combination of western boxing, Muay Thai, Muay Boran, Panantukun (Filipino street boxing) and Sanda (Chinese kickboxing).

It incorporates all elements of stand-up fighting – punches, kicks, knees, elbows, clinch/grappling work, throws and take-down offence/defence.

It is used and practiced primarily for self-defence, but all techniques are applicable to sparring in a sports environment.

However, unlike most sports combat classes, we also cover basics like safe punching with bare knuckles, and group fight scenarios (where you face multiple opponents).

There is a strong emphasis on developing an understanding of true fight timing, awareness and distance which is universally applied to our weapons training and knife defence.  Training incorporates a mixture of pad work, partner drills, shadow boxing and sparring with others of similar ability/experience.

Many of the skills developed – blocking, balance, good body mechanics and clinch work are easily transferable to our knife defence and weapons programme.
